Is Free To Move right for me?
The short answer: if you’re looking for body neutral, accessible and queer-centred movement platform, then YES. Free To Move is perfect for you. We prioritize movement that makes you feel your best, improve strength for your everyday life, and manage your mental, physical and emotional health.
How does the online platform work?
When you sign up, you’ll gain instant access to the on-demand library for whenever you want to get started. You’ll be able to sign up for live classes, where you’ll receive a Zoom link to join and feel the energy of classes together! You’ll receive an email with details on how to join the community facebook group, and get in touch with the Free To Move team if need be. We’re always here to support you.
What equipment do I need?
None! You can join the live classes from home, with no equipment needed. We recommend using a yoga or exercise mat if you have one. For on-demand content, optional equipment includes small weights, dumbbells, or resistance bands.
Do you have a pay per class option?
On the first week of every month, our classes are open for donation based drop-in option. Otherwise, live classes and on-demand content is reserved for members, because the real value here is signing up, connecting with an incredible community and feeling your strength improve week after week!
Can only LGBTQ+ people join?
Free To Move is kind of like a gay bar, it’s made for and by queer people! We welcome strong allies, questioning folks, and all kinds of LGBTQ+ folks. However, any kind of homophobia, racism, transphobia, misogyny, ableism, fat-phobia, hateful language or micro-aggressions will not be tolerated and result in immediate removal from the community.
What if I’m a beginner?
Beginners, getting back into it or managing chronic health issues, these classes were made for you in mind! Every class and video has options to modify, as well as scale up or down movements as needed. You’re always invited to rest as you need, check-in with your body and do what feels best for you.
I have health issues - will I be able to participate?
Yes! Modifications are offered for a range of needs, as well as classes specific for you if you’re managing chronic illness, pain, injury, mental health flares or low energy days.
What kind of accountability is there?
The Facebook group is available to seek support, accountability and connect with community members (feel free to post looking for an accountability buddy too!). If you’re in need of more support, sign up for the Superstar level membership for access to private support calls with one of our coaches.
I’ve seen the challenges online, what are they like?
A few times throughout the year, you’re invited to participate in challenges, focused on movement and wellness, like hydration, meditation, sleep, and sometimes even push-ups! They are a fun way to engage with everyone, and focus on an aspect of our health for a few weeks.
What are the workshops like?
The workshops focus on queer-centered wellness topics you won’t find anywhere else, like good-mood food workshop, queering your pleasure, finding your wellness squad and exercising with chronic illness. Gain access with any membership level!
Can I cancel anytime?
Yep, there are no contracts here! You’re free to go if it doesn’t feel like the right fit for you.
